Waffle or Waterfall? Our journey to Millard Falls

In Sam-lish (like English just harder to understand) waterfall sounds more like waffle, but that is where we headed this morning.

We had planned on going up to Millard Falls in the Angeles National Forest so I packed up some snacks, diapers, and we jumped in the car and headed North to Pasadena. We got there about 8:30, parked in the campground lot, and headed up the 1/2 mile trail. It was a beautiful morning and was perfect for hiking; not cold, but not hot either. Sammy was so excited and singing "hut, two, three, four" from the jungle Book elephant march song and couldn't wait to see the waterfalls. He kept trying to play in the river (leading from the falls) but we kept him dry. He needed a little help from Daddy from time to time (he kept saying "hold you Daddy!") but he did pretty well.

We made it to the waterfall which was pretty nice and Sammy and Thad even took their shoes off and waded in. Someone (LOL) had to hold the baby and keep him dry so I stayed on the rocks/trail. We hung out there and snacked and rested and then headed back out. We were back home by noon for lunch and naps. It was a fun morning trip! :)

In other not so exciting parenting news we attempted what I've been dreading for 5 months now (we had to since Nathan's head and feet almost hit both ends in the bassinet) and we stuck the boys both in the same room last night. Once they were asleep it was okay (Nathan only woke up twice and Sam didn't seem to notice too much) and stayed asleep. But Sammy had an awful time going to bed--I'm not sure if it was the excitement of having the baby in his room or if he knew that we were watching Jared and Lizzie and that they were still up waiting for Cathy & Danny to come and get them. Nathan took longer than normal but was too tired to stay up to keep calling my name. ;) The "exciting" part (if you can call it that) was this morning at 5:45 when Sammy was "all done" which meant that poor Nathan was "all done" too--he seemed happy and cooed and talked to Sammy. We made Sammy lay down with the lights on until 6 and then I went and got them both up. Since the time change he's been going down between 7 and 8 pm and getting up between 6:30 and 7 am. Sam has this thing that if he goes to bed late that he wakes up even earlier than normal. Last night he was put to bed about 7:30 but didn't go down until after 9 so I knew we'd be up extra early! I guess that it ended up working out since we wanted to get an early start to Millard Canyon! :)

That sounds like a lot of fun! I am glad that you were able to go and that your boys got to experience that!!

Glad you guys had a good time and I guess getting an early start on a day trip is the ONLY thing good about little ones that decide to wake up early!!
