Weekend Fun with the Fongs!

Cathy and Danny just purchased their own home--woo hoo--but now they're dealing with getting one house ready, and packing up all of their stuff from their old house and getting that all done before the end of the month! They had family come in to help but I figured that I was pretty useless being that my two kids would just make it more hectic if I were to go over there and I really can't do anything since I'm 6 months pregnant.

So I decided to offer my services as Auntie babysitter extraordinaire! I figured that I could handle Liz (4) and Jared (almost 6) since they play really well with Sam and Nate and that hopefully they could get more done without having to deal with keeping them happy and from helping too much.

We headed to Grandma's house, since it's bigger than mine and has enough rooms for all of them to sleep at nap time, and we played, and played, and played and...It was a lot of fun. Saturday we just played with the hose but today we pulled out our super fancy pool and filled it up and splashed around. Jared and Sammy loved to splash. Nate loved going in and out of the pool and splashing a bit too--he spent most of the time giggling hysterically. Liz mostly just danced around and would get in when the boys were out of the pool.

We had a lot of fun playing and they all listened well (well, all but Sammy, but that is my own problem!) That said I think that Sammy (and all of the kids) enjoyed it immensely. We were about 100 yards from their house when Sammy started crying and he told me, "I miss them already," luckily they're close by!! :)The boys worked till almost midnight on Saturday and they're not home yet tonight (and it's almost 10) so I think that I got the better deal! High Blood Pressure? No problem...life's so calm....ha!

I got sick the day after Easter and suffered a week or two with a nasty cold and cough but the cough has lingered and lingered and...

I went in yesterday (after having the cough for a month) because I was starting to wheeze. I was seen and they said that I had bronchitis and kept asking if I smoked (no) or had asthma (no again) and then tried to figure out what to give me since I'm 26 weeks pregnant. The doctor finally decided that she'd give me Amoxicillin which was "safe" for me and I came home a bit uneasy about taking something but the doctor had said that it could turn into pneumonia if I wasn't careful. She also said that my blood pressure was higher than normal and to "take a day or two off" and "rest". Rest? What's that? If I have to make sub plans there goes the first part of resting and how I am supposed to rest with a 1 1/2 year old, a 3 1/2 year old and a sick husband all at home?! I decided that it would be less stressful for me to be at school since I have so many kids taking AP exams that they are working on a group project 3 of the 5 periods and I'd only have to really teach two periods. That was fine and dandy and not too bad for me till I got home today after school...

Nathan has had the cough for a month too and so I decided to get him checked for bronchitis and so I had an appointment at 3:30. I was running late from working on sub plans just in case I got even sicker, I ran home and got home to find the kids still in their PJs and as it was I only had 5 minutes to make a 7-10 minute drive! I got them changed, thrown into the car, and we ran to the doctor's office. Nate didn't have bronchitis but he did have a double ear infecction (poor kid) and the doctor listened to me and told me that I sounded better today and that I shouldn't take the Amoxicillin since it could be dangerous and it doesn't work for viral infections (ie bronchitis). Hooray!

We headed out to the pharmacy to pick up Nate's medicine to kick the ear infection and then all heck broke loose (remember that I'm still "trying to keep my blood pressure down"). Nate was trying to run off, Sammy kept trying to play with the signs, etc. Then Sammy had to pee so we all went to the bathroom, he used the bathroom and I needed to go as well and they were both flushing the toliet, then Sammy opened the door while I was peeing, then he tried to crawl under the stalls (luckily nobody else was there). We went back into the waiting room but for some reason everyone kept moving away from the crazy pregnant lady with two hyper toddlers. Finally the medicine was ready and I took it and ran! Phew.

The kids were starving so we stopped and got them each a cheese roll up at Taco Bell (79 cents and delicious!) and then headed home. We played outside for a little but when it was time to come in Nathan wasn't ready so he started throwing a tantrum. I was getting tangerines for the boys for a snack when I realized that he was still holding his breath. I turned to see him all blue and falling over. I ran and grabbed him and he fell back into my arms. I started blowing into his face and luckily he gasped for air and then sat crying in my arms while he regained his energy and oxygen. He's okay now but goodness gracious it has been a crazy day.

So, I doubt that my blood pressure has gone down much but hopefully I can get them in bed soon and then relax a little bit. All in a day's work, right?!

p.s. Even just now as I was "ignoring my kiddos" (they're next to me in the living room) Sammy just dumped a giant box of train tracks, toys, trains, etc onto the living room floor completely blocking the road to the bedrooms. I sure am going to have my hands full in August!!

Fun with Grandma and Grandpa

We're lucky to have two sets of grandparents close by! On Mondays the boys get to hang out with Grandma Marcroft and on Wednesdays they get to hang out with Grandma and Grandpa Driggs while Mommy is at work and Daddy is at school. I know that they look forward to spending time with them!

G & G Driggs love to take them to the park and then go to get Happy Meals and usually take their camera with them to take pictures so that I can see them! Here are a few that they took of the boys on Wednesday that won my heart...enjoy!

Playing after school at Disneyland

We had a crazy schedule at school this week because of state testing and one day we got out super early and instead of staying till 3 or 4 to work we grabbed the kids, slathered some sunscreen on, grabbed their hats, the strollers (for when we want to go more quickly than 3 year old pace) and headed to Disneyland. It was a gorgeous day and we had a lot of fun! Thad and I had to renew our passes (but we always get the cheapest ones since they have such a great deal for us from So Cal - $134 for the whole year - not too bad since it's $69 for one day), Sammy's pass is still good and Nate is still free! Phew!

We always just go on a few rides and we leave while all of us are still happy, having fun and not crying. We rode Buzz Lightyear (and Thad got a super high score), Thad and Sam rode Star Tours, then we headed to the Carousel, the Casey Junior Train and took the Monorail out! The best part was that Nathan actually seemed to know what was going on and was so excited as we got on each ride and said, "weeeee!" and had a smile plastered to his face while the rides were going! That made it even more fun!

There are more pictures here if you go to page 2!

I did get a little video on the train even though I missed some of their super cute expressions and Nathan's "choo-choo" dance (well you can see one arm go up!)...it's only about 10 seconds but fun to see Sammy's excited face!
