They're here! :)

We added another nephew, Brett, born to Sarah & Bill, and another niece Rachel, born to Chris & Jana, this month on the Marcroft side--we're pretty lucky--and we'll add another one on the Driggs side in June (to Cathy & Danny). Here are the stats; Brett was born March 11, 2008, 20 1/2 inches, 7 pounds 15 ounces. Rachel was born March 25, 2008, 21 inches, 8 pounds 5 ounces. Congrats to everyone. :)

"Too loud!"

So I thought that I had both boys down without too much hassle tonight when all of a sudden Nathan screamed and then immediately Sammy started screaming too. Oh joy. I got them both calmed down and then Sammy told me, "Nathan go YOUR room. Nathan TOO loud!" LOL. Sorry Sammy-you'll be sharing a room with him for a long time!

What Mommy said by Sammy

Sammy had gotten into the fridge pulled out a large glass jar of applesauce and had come to get me to open it. I, being the worry wart mom that I am, told him that he should ask me because if he dropped the glass jar that it would break and cut him because the pieces would be sharp. When I served him his applesauce he was a bit apprehensive and touched it with his finger and said, "ouch, sharp!" I responded, "No the applesauce isn't sharp, it's soft and smooth," and he repeated, "Yep, cows go moo-ooooo!"

He was then content with my answer and gobbled down his applesauce.

Waffle or Waterfall? Our journey to Millard Falls

In Sam-lish (like English just harder to understand) waterfall sounds more like waffle, but that is where we headed this morning.

We had planned on going up to Millard Falls in the Angeles National Forest so I packed up some snacks, diapers, and we jumped in the car and headed North to Pasadena. We got there about 8:30, parked in the campground lot, and headed up the 1/2 mile trail. It was a beautiful morning and was perfect for hiking; not cold, but not hot either. Sammy was so excited and singing "hut, two, three, four" from the jungle Book elephant march song and couldn't wait to see the waterfalls. He kept trying to play in the river (leading from the falls) but we kept him dry. He needed a little help from Daddy from time to time (he kept saying "hold you Daddy!") but he did pretty well.

We made it to the waterfall which was pretty nice and Sammy and Thad even took their shoes off and waded in. Someone (LOL) had to hold the baby and keep him dry so I stayed on the rocks/trail. We hung out there and snacked and rested and then headed back out. We were back home by noon for lunch and naps. It was a fun morning trip! :)

In other not so exciting parenting news we attempted what I've been dreading for 5 months now (we had to since Nathan's head and feet almost hit both ends in the bassinet) and we stuck the boys both in the same room last night. Once they were asleep it was okay (Nathan only woke up twice and Sam didn't seem to notice too much) and stayed asleep. But Sammy had an awful time going to bed--I'm not sure if it was the excitement of having the baby in his room or if he knew that we were watching Jared and Lizzie and that they were still up waiting for Cathy & Danny to come and get them. Nathan took longer than normal but was too tired to stay up to keep calling my name. ;) The "exciting" part (if you can call it that) was this morning at 5:45 when Sammy was "all done" which meant that poor Nathan was "all done" too--he seemed happy and cooed and talked to Sammy. We made Sammy lay down with the lights on until 6 and then I went and got them both up. Since the time change he's been going down between 7 and 8 pm and getting up between 6:30 and 7 am. Sam has this thing that if he goes to bed late that he wakes up even earlier than normal. Last night he was put to bed about 7:30 but didn't go down until after 9 so I knew we'd be up extra early! I guess that it ended up working out since we wanted to get an early start to Millard Canyon! :)

Sagittal Synostosis - :(

So, it's official. Nathanael does have a slight case of sagittal synostosis and will have to have surgery on his head to take out the part of his skull that is fused together too early to lessen the pressure on his head. It will probably occur within the next month. I'll post more later....keep us in your prayers.

UPDATE: Surgery Date: April 14th (which is a bummer because I'm off from April 5-13. Ugh!) Oh well...now I just have to find a good sub and a good project to keep them learning and occupied for a week while I'm gone!

Robber!

Okay, just another Samism, not a crazy drunk guy on my porch, but read on! So, I cut up oranges for Sammy to eat for a snack but he wasn't eating them so I grabbed a piece. He said, "Hey! My oranges!" I giggled and grabbed another and he responded with, "No Robber! My oranges!" LOL. Where did he get that from?

Genetically speaking...

Everyone says that Nathan is always happy and smiling, but what baby isn't happy!? :) Here he is laughing up a storm (he just loves watching Sammy do just about anything). He seems to have gotten my "I'm laughing so hard I can't breathe and I'm going to turn purple" gene.
