Family fun at Bolsa Chica State Beach

Uncle Chris came into town which is always a good excuse for the Marcrofts (and all of the extensions of the aforementioned group) to meet at Bolsa Chica State Beach for some food and fun! Danny was so excited about playing in the water this year (you can see his face in the pictures) and of course Sammy and Nathan loved it! It was a beautiful afternoon, there were hot dogs, chips, soda and smores to roast over the fire and we all had a blast. Troy even spotted four dolphins playing close by the shore which was a treat for all of us to see so close to us! Here are a few of the fun pictures from our evening at the beach!

And it’s a…

ultrasound-6-13-11So in normal Marcroft tradition we haven’t told many people that we’re expecting (I like to hide it as long as possible) and if possible tell people after the ultrasound…

So, you’ve been “officially” told and…

…boy #4 will be making his appearance on or around November 14, 2011 (making me 18 weeks).

The boys are super excited and they already have names picked out. Sammy wants to name him Nephi and Nathan wants to name him Nathan. :) I think that is what Sam wanted last time (with Danny) to name him Samuel. It must be the age!

So, we’re super excited to be having another one and a little relieved it isn’t a girl. I know that sounds funny but it is a whole other world and this boy thing is comfy to me. I already know how to deal with bugs, boogers, dirt, trucks, trains and a whole bunch of wrestling!

“Puppy” K–Fieldtrips

OC Zoo Fieldtrip

I took the day off for this one and played mommy instead of Mrs. Marcroft for the day! We boarded a giant bus, put on our seatbelts (yes, they all have seatbelts!) and headed to the OC. It was a nice little zoo which was perfect for a 1-2 hour jaunt before a nice 12 minute train ride and then a peaceful sack lunch on the beautiful grounds. Sammy was smiling from ear to ear and I was glad that I got to go and play!

Newport Harbor Fieldtrip

I don’t know all of the specs since I didn’t get to go on this one but Thad relayed this much of the story to me since Grandma watched the boys and he got to go. I know that their bus arrived late to the dock and they missed their boat but that one of the girl’s mom’s worked on some of the boats and was able to get one of her employers to take all of the kids out on his boat. They got to be on their a whole hour and even eat lunch on the boat! The kids had a great time!

Now you see it….now you don’t!

Sammys1stLostTooth_9Sammy went on a field trip on Tuesday and Thad got lots of nice pictures of Sammy and his class at the harbor(hopefully they’ll be my next post!)

He came home on Wednesday and told me his tooth was loose and a few hours later it was in his hand! He even celebrated it cousin Jared’s bday song on the phone (Happy birthday to you I have a loose tooth Happy birthday to you it fell out today Happy birthday dear Jared I have a loose tooth Happy birthday to you Cha cha chaaa!)

He was not happy when the tooth fairy brought him a dollar in coins (three quarters, two dimes and a nickel so that he could pay his tithing) because he wanted a dollar bill (that is what the neighbor girls get but oh well.) Thad and I weren’t ready for his new grin yet—we didn’t have enough time to prepare mentally—but oh well, he sure loves it!

p.s. Lots of people say he looks like me, and some say like Thad but in these pictures I can definitely see what they’re talking about for once!

Easter 2011

Easter was late this year…but not this late I know. Here are a few pictures from our festivities at the Driggs.

Here is a picture of us after church. :)
Gotta teach ‘em the real reason behind Easter!

Camping at Monte Cristo

IMGP2083 Better late than never, right???

At the end of spring break we headed to Monte Cristo campgrounds for an overnighter. We had originally planned two nights but something happened and our plans quickly changed and we went up Friday morning, played all day stayed the night and then left Saturday afternoon at nap time.

Thad used to come up to this campground as a boy with his family and has lots of good memories. It is a fun little campground with a stream that runs right through it. It is pretty (supposedly much prettier according to Thad but it is still trying to recover from the fires that burned most of the mountains two summers ago) and perfect for the boys. We packed their bikes and wagon and they had a blast riding down the little hill and splashing through the stream (where it was less than ankle deep). They must have played there for three or four hours!

Friday night Aunt Adrian and soon-to-be Uncle Eric came up and had dinner, smores and hot chocolate with us before heading to bed. We tried our new family three person 0 degree sleeping bag, stuck Danny in a pack-in-play (we have a large tent) and slept as well as you can when you’re on the hard ground. The weather was perfect and when we woke up the Easter Bunny had arrived (as well as Grandma and Grandpa Marcroft). The boys were excited and found eggs around the campsite. We also dyed eggs with Addie and Eric.

The boys played some more while we cleaned up and would have been happy to stay there another day. We’ll definitely be going back!
